MERZ, an art movement of one

kurt Schwitters was a painter who wanted to start a movement. Everyone else was doing it, the Surrealists, the Dadaists.
He painted his pictures on flat boards and found objects he cobbled together. I once heard a recording of him at an art museum in New York city, reading a story of his every woman character Anna Blume.
Nobody else joined him in his effort. Merz was just him, but what a wonderful body of work he and his Merz movement produced.
